Happy Fourth of July

We participated in two parades today!

Hubby and Joe Walsh at the Antioch, IL parade.

Memorial Day Parade

In the pouring rain. I was somewhat surprised at the number of people who stuck with it waiting for the parade in the rain. By the time it got to us at the end of the route, it had stopped raining.

Our float, a three tiered 100th birthday “cake” for Boy Scouts of America. With a rotating 100 on top and smoke coming from the “candles”. And a big “present” too.

Prepare for Memorial Day

I received an email from Jeanette at J’s Cafe Nette and forwarded it to Hubby who felt he had to post it ! It’s since been linked to by Mr. Fix-it at WGN Radio.

He’s posted it here: Preparation for Memorial Day.

He’s also posted a moving video here: True Meaning of Memorial Day!

Easter Cactus

This plant sat outside all summer and bloomed in late September/early October and I thought it was done.

Blooming again now in time for Easter.

Paczki Day

it’s Packzki (poonch – key) day! Mardi Gras! Fat Tuesday! The last day of gluttony and debauchery before the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter Day.

Happy New Year!

To All Stooges Fans

Starting tomorrow, 12/31/2009 at 7:00 am EST, American Movie Classics (AMC) will be showing digitally remastered Three Stooges half hours in a 24 hour marathon.

There’s also a Stooges Fans trivia quiz. How well can you do?

***FTC notice: I have received no compensation or consideration from AMC or anyone for this post. I thought that a digitally remastered Three Stooges Marathon would be interesting to my readers. ***

What Child is This?

What Child is This?

What child is this who laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The babe, the son of Mary

Why lies he in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding
Good Christian fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading

So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh
Come peasant king to own Him
The King of kings, salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone Him

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The babe, the son of Mary

Merry Christmas

7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
